Innerspeak is a creative producing duo, founded and led by Kevin Young and Yusuf Zine, based in Toronto, Canada. Our work focuses on storytelling through writing, directing, and editing with specific backgrounds in film, television, theatre, and podcasts.

Our work has been screened around the world, garnered multiple awards, and has been featured in major international news outlets such as The Guardian, Al-Jazeera, CBC and more.

THE TEAM

KEVIN YOUNG

Kevin Young is a producer, director and co-founder of Innerspeak Media. He started his career as a freelance location sound recordist who has traveled the world with the Discovery Channel while also working freelance at CTV/TSN on shows such as The Beaverton, Canada AM, and Trade Centre. His co-directorial debut was a feature documentary film entitled I Am Rohingya: A Genocide in Four Acts. The film won the 2018 Cinema Politica’s Audience Choice Award and garnered international attention. In 2021, he co-wrote, produced and sound engineered the true crime investigative podcast series for TVO entitled Unascertained, which follows the notorious case of Soleiman Faqiri’s death. He then co-wrote, produced and sound engineered a second series for TVO entitled, Extradition, which investigated the disappearance of a Uyghur-Canadian man into China’s mass detention and forced labour system. Kevin also worked in the sound department for the award-winning TV series Nova for PBS and Mighty Ships for Discovery.

YUSUF ZINE

Yusuf is a Moroccan-Pakistani actor, filmmaker and podcast-producer based in Toronto, Canada. His co-directorial debut was a feature documentary film entitled I Am Rohingya: A Genocide in Four Acts. The film won the 2018 Cinema Politica’s Audience Choice Award and garnered international attention. In 2021, He co-hosted and produced an investigative podcast series for TVO, Unascertained, which investigated the death of a mentally-ill man in an Ontario jail - and won multiple awards including Amazon Music’s Best Canadian Podcasts of 2021. His latest series with TVO, Extradition: The Search for Huseyin Celil, is an investigation into the disappearance of a Uyghur-Canadian man into China’s mass detention and forced labour system, and won a Signal Award for Best Host. He also was a writer and producer for the CBC Passionate Eye feature documentary, My Brother Soleiman, where he earned his first Canadian Screen Award nomination in 2025. Yusuf also works as an actor in the film, TV, and theatre space with credits such as What We Do In The Shadows (FX) and Law & Order Toronto (CityTV).
